Pickpocket Protection
It's no fun reaching into your pocket only to find your wallet is missing. Pickpocketing is an all too common occurrence that happens in a split second, making it almost impossible to catch a thief.
Some tips to guard yourself against pickpockets include:
Be aware of your surroundings.
Be aware of those around you -- don't be distracted by suspicious activity such as strangers bumping into you.
Carry money in several places to reduce the chance of losing all of it to a thief -- especially when riding public transportation or traveling to a foreign country (hip packs are great because they can be positioned on your stomach).
Never carry a wallet or anything else of value in your back pocket -- it's the easiest to pick.
