Glossary of Common Internet Terms

U
URL - Universal Resource Locator. The format
used by browsers to locate information on an internet, intranet, or extranet.
The first part of a URL indicates the service type (e.g., http, FTP, or gopher), followed
by a host name (e.g., www.insurancestop.com) and sometimes a pathname (e.g., /index).
USB - Universal Serial Bus. The USB allows
the PC to interface with devices such as the keyboard, mouse, scanner,
joystick, telephone devices, and printers. The USB can support MPEG-1
and MPEG-2 digital video. In addition, USBs can be plugged and unplugged
without turning off the system.
