Glossary of Common Internet Terms

L
LAN - Local Area Network. A network of
computers confined within a small area, such as an office building.
Many companies set up LANs to share equipment such as modems and printers among several users.
LMK - A board posting or chat term for
Let Me Know.
Lurker - Someone who reads message boards but
rarely, if ever, posts to them. There are usually a lot of lurkers on
webmaster boards who show up just to absorb the information shared there
rather than become part of the discussion.
