Glossary of Common Internet Terms
G
GIF - Graphics Interchange Format. This is the
most common format for images to be used on the web. GIF images (versus JPGs and others)
are the only form that can be animated for use in banners, web pages, etc.
GSM - Global System for Mobile Communications. The
digital standard used for cellular phones throughout Europe. If you have a
U.S.-based GSM phone, it won't work in Europe because they're programmed to
work on different frequencies.
